GOP already trying to shift blame for ratings downgrade to Obama -
According to the initial report, S&P sees the GOP’s intransigence on taxes as a reason to suspect the country will not be likely to reduce deficits in the years ahead, and Republicans are already trying to get out from under the blame.
“Dear Mr. Obama, while you blame the GOP for the downgrade, your party controlled all of Washington for two years & extended the Bush cuts,” tweeted Red State founder Erick Erickson.
Fuckin’ really?
My jaw just dropped. SERIOUSLY, Red State? You’re blaming this on Obama because he wasn’t liberal enough with the economy when the Dems controlled the House? Are you suggesting you would have been *totally cool about it* if he’d ended the Bush tax cuts and set a higher debt ceiling back then? What even is this bullshit.
“This is all your fault for not getting anything done before the Republicans got there! Everyone knows they’re worthless as a governing body!!!”

Twenty-three years ago, Morning Edition launched what has become an Independence Day tradition: hosts, reporters, newscasters and commentators reading the Declaration of Independence.

Sarah Palin represents a dangerous force in American culture that is startlingly similar to the grandiose hyper-patriotic militarism that Hitler brought to Germany during his rise to power. We have better things to do in this nation than go down some twisted path of vengeance-seeking in the name of lost glory. I hope that Sarah Palin’s competitors on the right will stand up to her American fascist themes and call her out for what she is: a half-educated TV performer unqualified for high political office. The true shame of this country is that we have to take a clown like Sarah Palin seriously. — James Howard Kunstler (via azspot)
