McCain Forced To Defend Obama After Rhetoric Backfires! (via VOTERSTHINKdotORG)

Glad to see he woke up and realized there are acceptable limits of human behavior.

via Feebsicle

I am incredibly relieved to finally see McCain attempt to bring his campaign back to a respectful one. I am however incredibly upset that he has allowed his campaign to get to the point where he needs to assure his supporters that Obama is a decent man. Not even that Obama is a great man, just a decent man, and for that he gets booed. I’m sure that if the John McCain of 2000 could have a conversation with the John McCain of today they would have a lot to disagree about. The day it all changed for me was the day that John McCain spoke at Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University and shook his hand as an ally after calling him “agent of intolerance.” And again, while I am relieved that McCain has atleast attempted to grasp the reigns of interolerance that is becoming more and more frequent at his rallies, I would ask who is a greater “agent of intolerance” than his own running mate? I understand that when you are slipping in the polls, and you have no solid issues to pull yourself back up with, that you may have to resort to the negative, but the kind of hate, xenophobia, and fear that is being dragged out is absolutley unacceptable from any campaign. I truly hope the American people understand that and will speak with their vote. Here’s to hoping that in January we will have a President that is focusing on the problems that every American is worried about. Not a President that is pandering to fear. Not more of the same. It’s why my full support is with Barack Obama. I hope that yours is too.

I’ll echo the above and add that I’m a bit mystified at the admiration that’s suddenly flying in McCain’s direction from some quarters since he’s started trying to control the rhetoric coming from his supporters. It’s sort of like giving someone a medal for poisoning a patient and then calling a Code Blue when the person’s heart stops. Where on earth does everyone think all the hateful and ugly rhetoric came from in the first place? In fact, it came from McCain himself, from his questions like “Who is the real Barack Obama?” and his statements like, “He’s not like us.” And now, when he’s finally realized that the political expedience of this rhetoric is actually rather limited, we’re supposed to shower him with a chorus of hosannas for taking it all back? Sorry, but no. It’s not only too little, too late — it’s cynical, as well.

My motto for the foreseeable future.

Easy-Bake.

  • "Mom: why is the easy bake oven out?
  • me: I might've baked a brownie today..
  • Mom: haha, you ate it?
  • me: of course I did!
  • Mom: there is something wrong with you.
  • (as if we didn't already know this.)
  • keep in mind I'm 14 going on 15 in 6 months and wanted to use an Easy-Bake oven after a long day of school today. Proves that statement: You never grow old."
  • Hey, I used an EZ-Bake oven from time to time until I was in my 30s and my old one finally died. They're way, way fun, no matter what age you are.
