Religious Groups Endorse Monserrate →
“Religious leaders in Queens have pledged their support for Hiram Monserrate in the special election to fill the expelled State Senator’s seat on March 16.
They say they appreciate Monserrate’s vote against gay marriage last year. One local leader, Rev. Gilbert Pickett says he applauds Monserrate for his vote against New York’s gay marriage bill in December.”
For those of you not living in New York State: Monserrate is a State Senator who was convicted of assaulting his girlfriend and, as a result, was expelled from the State Senate. He’s now running for re-election.
Yes, that’s right, folks — certain religious leaders apparently will give you a pass on assaulting your girlfriend, just as long as you work to keep teh gays from getting married.
Sometimes I really just want to cry.
