late to the party

chrispazen:

i was walking up 9th ave today, and i passed a woman pushing her dog in a stroller (which struck me as both goofy for the woman, and counter-productive for the dog)

my question is — is this something people do now, and i’m just out of the loop?

is this the kind of thing i miss out on by not ordering “stuff white people like” from amazon?

and what if the dog actually needs to “go for a walk” during this little expedition?  what’s the protocol then?

I’ve been seeing this more and more often lately, most recently this morning on 23rd and Sixth. I’ve always assumed that the dog is infirm and can’t walk very well by himself, but who knows. I guess, though, that’s it’s not all that much weirder than seeing people pushing six and seven year olds around in strollers — another phenomenon I’ve noticed with increasing frequency. Sorry, but if the kid is sitting in the stroller carrying on an extended conversation with Mom about what stuff she wants while going back-to-school shopping (yep, I saw this happen once), she’s old enough to walk to where she needs to go.
