I’m very sad about the death of Odetta earlier this week, as she was a big part of my life when I was in my teens and 20s. Here she is, singing “House of the Rising Sun,” which I didn’t really get until I heard her sing it (and yeah, I’m counting Bob Dylan’s and The Animals’ versions).

RIP, Odetta. The world is poorer without you.
