The New Year’s Twilight Zone Marathon

After watching some of the yearly marathon, it dawns on me that most, or at least many, episodes of The Twilight Zone are actually kind of stupid. Yeah, there are some very good ones — the one where the electric razor comes down the stairs after the guy is pretty funny, and “To Serve Man” is still pretty clever. Oh, and of course, “It’s a Good Life.” But some of them are really eye-rollers. I mean, a couple gets a camera that photographs the future? A dead gangster’s shoes possess a man? Burgess Meredith and Fritz Weaver shout at each other for 22 minutes? Was there a time when this stuff seemed fresh? And don’t even get me started on the hour-long episodes or the one with Buster Keaton.
