Frothy Paradise

Because I’m usually half awake, I just noticed that the fabulous fuddmain tagged me. (I’m always embarrassed about doing these types of things, but, of course, I’ll go ahead and do it anyway.) So, because I know the world has been waiting with bated breath, here are 16 fun facts about me:

1.  I trained to be an opera singer; I got into Boston University School of Music but decided not to go.

2.  I’ve sung (in choruses) at both Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall — both times for the Mostly Mozart festival.

3.  I’ve been married twice — the second time happily, the first time not. (Obviously, I guess.)

4.  I don’t drink coffee and have to admit I sort of don’t get why people always seem to want to go get a cup of the stuff.

5.  I’m a native New Yorker.

6.  My father once punched a goose right in the beak after it attacked my best friend. (Ok, this one is probably a fun fact about my dad, or maybe about a goose, but still, it was pretty funny.)

7.  I’m a dog person who has two cats, and I gave them weird names (Psyche and Clotilde) that I’m constantly having to explain to people. We occsionally call Clotilde “Mo,” which is short for “Miserable Object,” as she tries to kill us periodically.

8.  I love to read true crime books, but am usually embarrassed to be seen reading them because they’re so trashy. I fold the covers back on the subway so nobody can tell what I’m reading (yeah, I know — as though anyone cares).

9.  Unlike 99.99% of the Western world, I detest melted cheese. Hate. Deep hatred. The smell of a grilled cheese sandwich literally makes me gag.

10. I once got picked to be on stage at The Real Live Brady Bunch at the now-defunct Village Gate in NYC. I tried to tell a joke and it completely bombed — you could actually hear the crickets chirping. Thus ended my showbiz career.

11.  I don’t drink very much at all (alcohol, that is) — maybe a couple glasses of wine a year. I would always be the designated driver if I didn’t live in New York where a lot of people take public transportation and don’t drive all that much.

12.  I love to wear perfume as long as it’s not the flowery stuff.

13.  My brother and I have a pretty large age gap between us — 11 years (he’s younger).

14.  I once failed gym in high school.

15.  I used to keep pet rats. I stopped because they lived for only around a year and a half to two years, and it got too depressing. They made great pets. Seriously.

16. I prefer overcast weather, or even light rain, to sunny weather.

(I know that’s only ten. And I apologize if any of you guys have already done this, but I’m lucky I can remember where to show up to work every day, much less what I read a few days ago.)
